Yoga Nidra, also known as conscious sleep, is perfect for anyone, even those brand new to yoga & meditation, but especially those suffering from insomnia, stress or depression. All that is required is the willingness to lie down, let go & rest.
Think of that sublime 5 minute savasana at the end of a yoga class where you melt into the floor, completely rested; now imagine 30, 45, or 60 minutes of it. Science confirms that 45 minutes of solid Yoga Nidra can equal 4 hours of our deepest sleep cycles. Although not a sleep replacement, Nidra can supplement the missing deep sleep that so many do not get. In the process of Nidra the body reawakens parts of the brain that have been dormant, it heals, repairs & reorganises it on a cellular level.
You begin by lying down, your teacher will lead you in with some easy breathwork & a simple guided meditation that gets you through the steps to clear your mind until you are in a very deep state of relaxation, between wakefulness & sleep. One of the goals is to lose conscious awareness & sensations of the physical body so your awareness can reunite with the pure essence of life & with your heart centre.
Once you experience the benefits of Nidra, you will be hooked.
Cindy is passionate about the traditional teachings of Yoga & it's philosophy. It is her mission to share these teaching methods to help people take more control of their lives, be less reactive, enhance overall health & to shine brightly.
