About Me

Hi! I’m Ange (she/they). Lover of the wild, untamed places within and all around us. Seeker of adventure, amateur crocheter and ukulele player. I find great joy in moving my body, whether that is practicing yoga asana, lifting weights, dancing, hiking or floating in the Birrarung.

I’m a qualified trauma aware, hatha, yin and prenatal yoga teacher, social worker/ adolescent counsellor, birth doula and passionate birth and women’s advocate.

In 2018 I found myself called to India to undertake my 200HR Hatha Yoga teacher training. I was pursuing a nagging knowing since one of my first yoga classes over 20 years ago, that one day I would become a yoga teacher. It took a while to listen to that little voice but here I am, relishing in the joy of sharing this ancient practice with others.

I began practicing yoga long before I appreciated its power to help me on a journey of pain, fatigue and anxiety after being diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. Yoga has always been there for me and has afforded me the opportunity to reconnect with myself and listen to my body, especially at those times when I’ve most needed it. More recently, I’ve learned the importance of tuning into my own cycles and how this influences every aspect of my life, and I love sharing this with as many people as possible - We are nature and therefore we are cyclical beings. When we embrace these ebbs and flows there is much less difficulty and more grace in our lives. You’ll find me weaving this passion for cyclical living and intentional embodied awareness into my classes to support a sense of feeling empowered in your practice and the world.

Yoga Influences

Hatha yoga

Yin yoga

A passion for yoga as birth preparation on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

Lived experience of anxiety and ADHD, studies in applied polyvagal theory for yoga, trauma aware and accessible yoga.

Background working in mental health, neuroscience – introducing polyvagal theory into classes to support nervous system regulation.

Teaching Style

Yoga as a complex philosophical and spiritual practice and the 8 limbs of yoga inform all of my classes.

Slow and intentional. Playful and mindful. Explorative, curious, gentle.

I am a facilitator of spaces for (re)connection with and remembering of your innate wisdom. Spaces where you can turn within and learn to trust your inner knowing. Space to honour your own power. I take an approach of no wrong way of practicing yoga – it is just that, a practice. There is no such thing as “being good at yoga” or “not flexible enough”.

I am dedicated to creating trauma-aware, ND-affirming and accessible spaces for every body and I acknowledge I am forever learning. I am currently taking a deep dive into understanding decolonisation of yoga.

Why do you practice yoga?

Connection and grounding. Connection to my body, my breath, others and something greater. Grounding for my extremely active and creative, dreamy brain.

Why do you teach?

To share the beauty of what it feels like to slow down, be mindful and connect to ourselves, one another and something greater, especially in these times.

To share the joy of the presence and peace available in our yoga practice.

Favourite Asana?

Utkata konasana – Goddess. I love the strength and grounding of this shape.
