The Science & Practice of Pranayama & Conscious Breathing with Paul Stevens
Dr Paul is a Registered Medical Practitioner, Registered Naturopath, Registered Meditation Teacher & Registered Yoga Teacher. We are lucky to have Paul on our Yoga Teaching Team here at Prana House and he takes weekly Hatha and Yin classes. Paul incorporates a combination of meditation & Pranayama in most of his classes and will be facilitating the next term of our 6 week “The Science and Practice of Pranayama & Conscious Breathing” which begins on Wednesday 17th July 2024. Each class runs for an hour and 45 minutes from 7pm each week.
Over six weekly 1hr 45min sessions you will learn over 20 different practices, originating from both ancient Yoga Pranayama and modern Conscious breathing (breathwork) traditions. Regular use of these practices will enhance your health, sustain well-being and boost immunity for the coming winter season. In addition you will receive a weekly Powerpoint video to provide more depth and scientific information regarding the techniques.
Some key learnings will be how to use breathing for
• Gaining control over your diaphragm and core breathing muscles
• Improving Emotional balance
• Reducing stress and enhancing immunity
• Enhancing energy
• Reducing pain
• Improving pelvic health
• Improving autonomic functions such as digestion and blood pressure
• Optimising meditation
Other topics include the growing scientific basis and traditional guidelines for these practices.
