Embodied Yoga for Stress & Anxiety 4 Week Course

Ange (she/they) warmly invites you to a non-judgmental space for a gentle Hatha yoga practice. Movement (asana), breath (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) are intentionally incorporated to support nervous system regulation and you will learn practical tools to help reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. Through this guided experience over four weeks, you'll be supported to explore the mind-body connection and find grounding, calm, and presence. You’ll learn tools and practice strategies to release physical tension, calm your nervous system, and integrate practices of presence and self-care, both on and off the mat.

Why yoga for stress and anxiety?

The focus of this series is to shift away from the individual pathology of stress and anxiety.  We all experience increasing levels of stress and anxiety, aka. dysregulated nervous systems in a disembodied and disconnected world preoccupied with doing rather than being. While we may not be aware of it, many of us are noticing the tell-tale signs of an imbalance and stress in our lives:

  • difficulty focussing or brain fog

  • sleep difficulties

  • never feeling rested

  • feelings of overwhelm

  • low mood or mood swings

  • feeling like you’re on a never ceasing hampster wheel

  • a sense of being “not enough”.

 The list goes on.

I’m here to tell you, you are not the problem. We don’t judge the plant that is sick, we look at its environment and adjust accordingly. So let’s start doing the same for ourselves, one another and our communities. This is not another self-improvement course but one that supports you to navigate your daily life with an increased sense of presence, ease, self-compassion, resilience and feeling of being empowered to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Who it’s for:

This is a yoga series for new and experienced yogis alike. There is more of a focus on exploration than experience or ability. Ange facilitates in such a way that you will be offered variations for practices so you have the opportunity to move, breathe and meditate in a way that allows for your needs, abilities, capacity and your own unique anatomy.

What to expect in each class:

  • Sprinklings of neuroscience

  • Teachings of traditional principles of yoga (not limited to asana) to understand why we feel the way we do, how we can support our nervous systems, how to reduce stress and anxiety and live a meaningful life.

  • Embodied movement in the form of asana (yoga shapes). We will use accessible yoga shapes to explore your connection to your body and the present moment.

  • Guided mindfulness and meditation to help practice connecting to the present moment and to practice non-judgement and self-compassion.

  • Pranayama (breathing) to help with physical tension and as a tool to regulate the nervous system

What I’ll learn:

  • Easy to use tools including breathing, grounding techniques and movement that support nervous system regulation and reduction of stress and anxiety

  • Reduced physical and mental tension through the use of embodied, mindful movement and pranayama

  • Self awareness and compassion through guided mindfulness, meditation practices and embodied movement

  • Increased resilience

  • Improved sleep

  • Increased sense of hope and improved mood

  • Feeling empowered

  • Increased ability to feel grounded and present

About Ange

Ange draws on her background working in the community and mental health sectors as a social worker and counsellor for 10 years.  Her lived experience of anxiety and neurodivergence, 200hr Hatha YTT in India and studies in applied polyvagal theory for yoga, trauma informed and accessible yoga underpin her facilitation. They skilfully weave traditional Hatha yoga practices with modern neuroscience with warmth and a light-hearted approach.

Ange’s Approach:

Ange’s sessions are designed to help you slow down, allowing space to cultivate self-awareness and connection in a nurturing environment open to all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Ange takes an approach of no wrong way of practicing yoga – it is just that, a practice. There is no such thing as “being good at yoga” or “not flexible enough”. Yoga means “unity” and is a practice of connection, self compassion and presence to whatever is. It is not about judgement, comparison or hierarchy. You are complete and whole as you are.
