Closing the Bones

Closing of the Bones is a traditional practice that hails from South American cultures such as Ecuador and Mexico. Using traditional cloths known as Robozo. These are used for a range of practices around pregnancy, birth and postpartum. COTB is traditionally for the postnatal woman. Nurturing her body; emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. It can be said that a woman is broken open during birth. The body, mind and spirit have to open and let go from a deep place to bring a new soul into the world. We open ourselves to the most dramatic life experience and sometimes traumatic experience. This ritual helps to close a new Mother energetically, as both pregnancy, and the intense process of labour and birth, can be very vulnerable times for a woman, psychologically and psychically.

The ceremony is open to all mothers at any time who wish to find some closure for themselves no matter how old your child is. It can also be performed on women who haven’t birthed but wish to close something else in their life. When the body suffers a trauma, our instinctual reflex is to clench these deep muscles. The problem is, we don’t let go. These unresolved emotions and trauma can be felt upon the hips as adrenalin crystals, that are released during the massage. This means that this ritual is appropriate for any woman, at any phase of life, and can be particularly powerful after a Yoni Massage. As she has just been through an incredible opening and release. The COTB may support her to integrate and ground.
