About Me

Georgia has been a passionate yoga teacher teaching in Melbourne for over 22 years.

She was immediately drawn to yoga after a friend returned from India and introduced her to a practice . She loved how her body felt during and after asana practice, appreciating the connection between the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual bodies.

Since then, she has evolved her practice to tune in with her daily life, which may be vigorous or restorative.

Her early learning was in the Iyengar style of yoga, which incorporates alignment, strength and flexibility. She completed her Yoga teacher training with Murray and Gillian Lazenby of Genius Wellbeing which was an “apprentice” style of practical training. Since her initial training, Georgia has broadened her yoga training to include “Yin Yoga” with Leonie Lockwood, “Kids Yoga“ with Rainbow Kids Yoga, "Yoga for Children with Autism and Special Needs" with Shawnee Thornton Hardy and “Yoga for Menopause ” with Margot Porter facilitated here at Prana House.

Georgia acknowledges through “sankalpa” - to set an intention, to connect with your heart's deepest desire, yoga practice can provide a deep connection to our physical, emotional and spiritual selves.

Yoga Influences

In her classes, she imparts her knowledge of the physical body sprinkled with the energetics of Eastern philosophy, including chakras, meridians and acupressure point theory. She shares her knowledge of the physical and energetic bodies to help release, energise, strengthen and invite increased flexibility and self awareness.

Teaching Style

Georgia teaches the principles of pose alignment in yoga. Each pose is based on her deep understanding and recognition that alignment can be refined to accommodate the unique qualities of every individual body. Her experience and teachings are significant, as she incorporates her knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the physical human body as well as the breath and mind body connection.

Why do you practice yoga?

Yoga for Georgia supports her daily life in managing stress, strength, flexibility and just making her feel good in her body. Not only does it keep her grounded but also supports her spiritual connection and Georgia loves the variety she can add in to her practice using different breath techniques, mantra and asana.

Why do you teach?

Georgia loves to impart her knowledge to her students but also to support them in building a strong healthy body allowing them to really tune in to how their body feels on a daily basis.

Favourite Asana?

Hmmm. A question… favourite Asana. That’s a tricky one. But Tikonasana - Triangle pose. The alignment is superb. Triangles are strong in nature.

Georgia also offers energetic healing and Lomi Lomi Spiritual Hawaiian Massage sessions at Prana House.
