Wisdom from a Doula

My goal is to share ways women can feel supported throughout their pregnancy journey from the wisdom of a Doula. My passion lies in holding space for women to feel truly capable of bringing new life into this world. It brings me joy to see women embrace their fire and bear witness to the power they hold within. I feel that women and families today are not getting the full support that they need.  The modern day healthcare system is set up to devalue personal advocacy, emotional care, and the empowerment to trust the innate intelligence within our own bodies. The current system isn’t balanced, in that there is a fear-based focus on a process that is completely natural. This is counterintuitive, as this leads parents further away from inner trust and intuition, pushing them towards being afraid of birth, and feeling they are incapable of trusting such a natural process.

Follow Your Passion to Create More Passion in Your Relationship!

One of the biggest mistakes we make when we enter into a long term relationship is giving up our passion. Not the passion in the relationship (though this is often a by-product), but the thing or things that really touch our soul and give us drive and motivation in our lives.

The Effects of Thought on the Body

It is deeply satisfying to understand why we act or think a certain way.  It can show us how unique we are, but more importantly for negative patterns it can show us that that we don’t have to be that way.  It opens the possibility for change and the ability to see things with fresh eyes.. and we become closer to who we truly are, beyond the influences of our culture, our upbringing or other past experiences.

Meditation

Meditation has become quite a buzz word in the wellness world as a remedy to the busy mind, but before it became trendy, meditation was something more personal - mostly limited to close knit circles and for practicing yogis. Meditation can be worth its weight in gold: supporting a reduction in stress, improving sleep routines, increasing energy levels, helping us to feel calm, and supporting our general, emotional wellbeing. In a world that is changing and evolving so rapidly, harnessing your inner calm is of the utmost importance, and worth taking the time to explore.

Spiritual Healing for Teenagers

One aspect of my work as a Spiritual Healer is to support teenagers to find greater ease in life.  Teenagehood can be a trying time for many. It is a time that we pull away from home, family, friends at a deeper level, and from ourselves.  We isolate ourselves physically and emotionally. In the greater scheme all of this has purpose. As teenagers, it is time to separate so that we can take steps to independence.  The separation helps us to see who we are and how we stand in the world. But, now more than ever, it is easy to feel lost, isolated, anxious and uninspired. The pressure of social media, body image, access to porn, self harm, access to drugs, and gaming addiction are difficult influences when we are trying to find our way.  It leads to being thrown from our centre, a loss of self. Our centre settles our emotions, helps us to feel empowered and inspired and connected to what and who we love. Without it we are easily influenced negatively by others and the world around us.

How Healthy Is Your Relationship Bank?

Thinking of your relationship in terms of a bank account can be hugely valuable in understanding whether your relationship balance is growing or depleting. Every single day we are constantly doing things that either enhance our love and connection (deposits), or reduce it (withdrawals). The key is to understand what constitutes deposits and withdrawals so that we can continue to build our relationship bank.

Energetic Transference in Relationships

I wanted to write this article because many clients I see, seek help to understand and untangle relationships, whether they are staying or leaving. What I see is that there are many ways that we transfer energy to each other that is fundamentally a form of dependency. I wanted to share how we carry another’s energy from a spiritual healing perspective, especially our partners, and how we too can put ourselves in their energetic field or body.

Meditation as Access to Lifeforce (Prana)

I use the term meditation as a state of being rather than the act of sitting down and focusing.  A state of meditation begins when a strong mesmerising vibrational feeling settles through the body.  The state is all-encompassing. An example may be going for a run that feels hard and effortful until you suddenly feel buoyant and tireless. This then becomes a meditation.  There are may ways to find the state of meditation, but the consistent thing that happens is that energy kicks in throughout the body and the mind becomes secondary…

Bring Back your Balance!

We are such dynamic beings! Our health is affected by all aspects of our life, our internal and external worlds. All of our stress, emotions, trauma and limiting beliefs are held in the body. If left unresolved they sit in our systems and cause a ripple effect, producing difficulties in our lives. Blocking our energy flow, they contribute to physical pain and problems, and keep us stuck in loops of behavioural patterns and reactions.

Sugar balance: How to find it’s Sweet Spot

My favorite part of working so closely with families is that I get to help them see the small ways they can improve their loved ones’ health - especially the kids! I am consistently asked the same questions: How can I make healthier meals for my kids? What’s your number one tip for nutrition? How can I prevent the cold and flu naturally? There are many components to a healthy lifestyle, but I always start with a discussion about SUGAR. It’s in everything! The most loved cereal brands, juice boxes, yogurt - even processed foods that are marketed “healthy” are chock full of that sneaky devil!

Are Comparisons & Expectations Killing Your Relationship?

One of the most dangerous trends in our modern society is our obsession with comparing ourselves to others, and feeling inadequate when we inevitably don’t measure up (at least in our minds). Books, magazines, movies and now social media all portray something that often seems unattainable, which can make us question our self worth…

How do I know if my partner is the 'The One'?

The simple answer, in the vast majority of cases, is they are if you treat them as though they are. Sure it may not feel as though they are when you are fighting and feeling disillusioned. And you may not feel inclined to treat your partner as ‘the one’ if they are not treating you with the respect you crave.
