Prana House is proud to present Stephen Magnusson and Lucas Michailidis as part of the Downward Dog Series.
For over twenty-five years both players have forged distinctive and striking identities; Magnusson in the contemporary jazz arena and Michailidis on the acoustic guitar. For the first time, they join together in a solo and duo format to share a mutual sensibility. Inhabiting the intersection between improvisation and composition, expect a night of fierce music making and warm camaraderie.

Stephen Magnusson is considered one of Australia’s most accomplished, versatile and distinct musicians. He has worked with artists including Charlie Haden, Ricki Lee Jones, Sinead O’Connor, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Paul Grabowsky, Katie Noonan and many others. As a part of the Katie Noonan trio Elixir, the ensemble won the ARIA for Best Jazz Album in 2011. In 2013, Stephen was awarded the Melbourne Prize for Outstanding Musician, and the Australian Jazz Bell Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album with his quartet MAGNET.
Lucas Michailidis is a past winner of the International Open Strings Competition in Germany and an ARIA award recipient for his work with Zulya and the Children of the Underground. He has performed in Europe, South Korea, and the USA, and has released three solo recordings that have garnered worldwide acclaim. The latest Laughing at the Thief,is featured on premier US acoustic label – CandyRat.
